The Wednesday War

     By Gary D. Schmidt

I have read the book The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt. The story is based on months instead of chapters but the months are like chapters but longer. The story is about a student named Holling HoodHood and a teacher named Mrs.Baker. At the beginning of the story, which is Holling's first day at school, Holling starts to be hated by Mrs. Baker. An example of Mrs.Baker hating Holling was when the class were doing sentence structure. Mrs. Baker was giving short sentences to the other students but when Mrs. Baker gave Holling his sentence it was very long. About three months into the school year there is a cream puff mix up and Holling ended up having to give the class cream puffs. There is a lot of Shakespeare in the book since Mrs. Baker likes Shakespeare and also because Holling stays in the afternoon on Wednesday. During all of this there is a war going in Vietnam. Mrs. Baker's husband is in the war and he has been missing for about three months during the books. On the last month of the school year Mrs. Baker takes the class camping even though she hates camping. She does it anyway because they have found her husband and since she took her previous classes, she decided to take this one too.

Kelly, you did pretty good. The only thing I have to say is where's the huge cliffhanger?!
